On 24 November 2020 WorkCover Queensland released its new Mental Injury Treatment Guidelines aimed at improving outcomes for workers recovering from mental injury.

The guidelines were created in conjunction with Psychiatrists and Psychologists and were designed to assist with treatment and management of work related mental injuries. These injuries may include Adjustment Disorders, Major Depressive Episodes, Anxiety Disorders and Post Traumatic Stress Disorders.

The guidelines detail approved treatment interventions and approved Pharmacotherapy.

The document provides a useful tool for ascertaining what treatment will and will not be approved by WorkCover when a request is made by, or on behalf of an worker suffering from a mental illness
