As of 1 January 2017, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will expand into four new regions in Australia. These new regions include Toowoomba (Qld), the Central Highlands (Vic), East Arnhem (NT) and the Perth Hills (WA).

Also from the first of this month, in South Australia and Tasmania, where the NDIS is being rolled out by age group, the Scheme will expand to include those individuals in the age groups 15-18 and 25-28.

This expansion means that more people will be eligible to access the Scheme from this month.

It is anticipated that by 2019, the NDIS will provide support to 460,000 Australians who fall under the age of 65 and who have a permanent and significant disability.
