So your Application for Compensation has been accepted by WorkCover or the self insurer. What now? What am I entitled to?
The statutory no fault compensation scheme entitles you to various forms of compensation, which include:
- Medical and Rehabilitation costs – treatment by a doctor, physiotherapist, psychologist etc. – hire of equipment ( crutches, wheelchairs)
- Travel expenses – to attend medical and rehabilitation treatment
- Parking fees – if they relate to treatment
- Medication, i.e. chemist costs
- Hospital expenses – may include private hospitalisation
- Loss of Wages – weekly compensation
- Lump sum payment (in the event of a work related permanent impairment.
All costs need to be pre-approved by the insurer and limits/thresholds apply.
