So your Application for Compensation has been accepted by WorkCover or the self insurer. What now? What am I entitled to?

The statutory no fault compensation scheme entitles you to various forms of compensation, which include:

  1. Medical and Rehabilitation costs – treatment by a doctor, physiotherapist, psychologist etc.                                                                             – hire of equipment ( crutches, wheelchairs)
  2. Travel expenses  – to attend medical and rehabilitation treatment
  3. Parking fees – if they relate to treatment
  4. Medication, i.e. chemist costs
  5. Hospital expenses – may include private hospitalisation
  6. Loss of Wages – weekly compensation
  7. Lump sum payment  (in the event of a work related permanent impairment.

All costs need to be pre-approved by the insurer and limits/thresholds apply.
